The Bridge over the River Kwai - Ride Itik version

I am back again... in writing. What language to use? English? Malay? Thai? huhu... mixed la noooh

I was ask to cover the trip from Hua Hin to River Kwai and return while my other riding partner will cover the remaining.

The trip is 650 km to and return. Still feeling exhausted from yesterday 800 km ride

Nov 28 morning... all of us gather in front of U-Yen Hotel, checking our motor. The hoo-haa started. Yus decided not to follow as he wanted to enjoy the scenery and visiting places in Hua Hin. We have it in video you know. The rest, hoo-haa lets roll the tires
We started with a good-breakfast at the 7E. Nasi goreng, wantan udang, roti, you name it la. Whatever seems to be HALAL all goes in. Hafiz decided the spaghetti. Not for me. Too orang putih.
Hafiz tak kalih dah
There suppose to be 8 of us BUT only 7 at the 7E. Checking2... I was informed Nan is leaving early as he plans to come back early to accompany Yus. So we are travelling in two groups. Once is a one man group while the other is a 7-man group

At around 8.30am - Thailand time, we depart. From Hua Hin to Cha Am and ahead to Petchaburi following route 4 - 323 up to the Bridge. That is the plan.

[10.10am] Somewhere near Petchaburi two pick up take a u-turn. Kusssss semangat. Main belasah je. Mir almost hit one of the pick up. We have to stop. Stop for a while - almost an hour. Ambil nyawa balik. We thought only Malaysian drivers are reckless... seems that the Thais also catching up fast.
5 iteks... apa la yang disembangkan tu
After Mir get back his life (hahaha), we continue to Petchaburi and then Ratchaburi before we stop again. Hafiz could not open his eyes anymore. Too sleepy. Macam2 kan. While waiting for Hafiz having his sweet dream Mir and Nasec busy attending to their bike
[11.30am] Nasec with the charging problem while Mir is preparing his ACE stickers at a road side
At this time, Nan pm me wondering if anything wrong with us. I believe he might be surprised when I told him we are waiting for Hafiz taking his nap. Hahaha. Wonderful trip kan... we can even had someone sleeping.

As Hafiz gaining his strength of riding... we gears up and continue. Aaaahhhh again stop. Stop for a photo. Not one BUT each and everyone had them
[12.15pm] The super duper fresh Hafiz
From the signboard Hafiz is posing... we ride straight. No turn kiri or kanan. Just straight. We were so eager as Nan is already at the site. Eager to be in a big group again.

Unfortunately, at the war cemetery, we stop again as we could not locate any signboard to River Kwai. Ask around and we were told "Sir you go straight no turn turn OK". Whom do you think we ask for a direction?
[01.30pm] Mel came to inform us - note awek in pink behind
There we received a news from Mel, Nan left to Hua Hin. Aiyaaa. Cannot wait even for 10 more minutes. OK lah what to do maa. We cannot force anyone to wait. Furthermore he is not traveling with us.

About 10 mins from there we arrive to the place where we are heading too. So emotional. Another problem... where is the bridge??? We took 10 mins to find the bridge and a good parking. Ample parking for 7 of us in a row. We note only one bikes from Malaysia. The Versys in yellow. Hope to notice the rider for a photo... seems he is nowhere to find in the flock of human beings

[01.50pm] We reached where we wanted to go. Nasec made a video on our trip here
From left - Irwan, Nasec, Hafiz, CO and Pijan in the middle of the bridge
Same location from left Irwan, Hafiz, Nasec, CO and Pijan
Abglong on the left and Mel on the right
We sing "Burung Kakak Tua" with him on the bridge. Unfortunately no one taking our photo huhuhu
Letih juga la wandering around for about 1 hour, we target the muslim stall selling HALAL food. Hungry man now. Sedap? no la... just nice for makan2 kasi perut kenyang
[02.45pm] makan time
At about 4pm we left River Kwai heading back to Ratchaburi. Abglong was leading the group and we chose a wrong time to return to Hua Hin. At about 5 near Ratchaburi the traffic is very heavy and we missed one junction without realizing it. There we are heading We passed Nakhon Pathom. By the time we realized, we were about 50km to Bangkok.

Again, google-map come in handy. It guided us to Samut Sakhon - Samut Songkhram and then to Petchaburi. By the time we reach hotel it is already passed 10pm. After keeping our helmets, jackets and other protective gears, we headed down and found that Yus and Nan are not at the hotel.

We went to Hua Hin bike week by asking for direction around there.... someone else will continue
Abglong dan Mel tak der foto
* I have corrected the timing based on time photos are taken. As there were few cameras in action time need to be checking and consulted for correction
* More river kwai story to be published as and when I received more photos

Ride Itik to Koh Samui - Samui Bike Week 2014 Part 5

Krooooooh krooooooh shit who is snoring so loud. Ops... it's me. Alamak sampai boleh dengar sendiri hahaha. Dah jam 8 pagi. Astagfirullahalaziiiiim. Ketua rombongan bangun lewat.

Dah siap2 nak gerak, receptionist hotel panggil. Huh ada lagi yang baru bangun. Hari tu di Pattani pun dia yang last. Kali ni pun dia juga. Mmmmmm.

Time makan kali ni cukup meriah.
Adik beradik ni pula tak mau renggang jauh. Depa pakat2 ushar sama2
Meja paling cool pula meja ni. Depa ni sopan sungguh. Dapat je nasi tak sembang2 dah. makan je
Depa ni pula orang dah makan pun dok sibuk kat tempat air lagi.

Dah kenyang baru la teringat, belum ambil gambar motor lagi kat depan tu
Time to continue our journey.
Cuma jual minya pakai botol. So kami pun stop jap refuel lagi untuk pastikan kami gunakan petrol yang terbaik. Semakin mesra semakin banyak gurauan. Ianya berlanjutan hingga ke stesen petrol ini
Sempat lagi walaupun kesuntukan masa
Kami disuruh naik feri Raja
Tak perlu menunggu lama coz feri yang sedang tunggu kami
Sambung nanti pula lah ya... Cemuih dah tulis ni

Ride Itik to Koh Samui - Samui Bike Week 2014 Part 4

Someone suggest I should write in Bahasa Melayu mmmmmm OK I'll try for part 4

Selepas semua peserta ditempatkan dibilik masing2 atas kerelaan sendiri...

Penghuni bilik : "Tak"
Nan : "Ni kembag ka?"
Penghuni bilik : ????

Hahaha terpinga2 bila dia nama kembag pula. Ceritanya sewaktu menyusun bilik apabila giliran Yusri tiba, aku bertanya siapa room mate? Yusri jawab kembag dia nah aku tulis ja Yusri + kembag. Nan yang lurus pula baca 100% kelakarkan
Yusri dan kembag
Percaya tak saya belum tahu lagi nama kembag Yusri ni walaupun kami dah melawak banyak kali dah.

Harga makanan memang murah. Nasi ayam campur ikan sekor - RM4 macam tu
On the way balik... Yusri jumpa duit 50baht. Jangan buat ibu duit dah la ye Yusri

Balik bilik pakat makan sendiri2. Dah berpecah semua jadi tak tahu mana dan dimana semua peserta. Keletihan... nak tidur je tapi mata tak mau lena.. capai kunci motor dan turun. Well nak ke mana pula ni....

Me : "Sawadikap.... pai wang saw"
Motor taxi : "OK OK good. Follow follow"

Ciss tau cakap omputih pula.

Ngekor la aku pusing2 di dalam pekan ni. Besar juga la. Sampai la tempat dituju. No photo allowed here hihihi pm la kalau nak photo kat sini. Tu dia sebaris jalan penuh... Orang kata kalau nak tengok nite life di sesuatu tempat macam ni la. Well, parking motor dan jalan2. Don't ask me where I am. I also don't know. Dah puas cuci mata balik kat tempat parking. Nampak sedikit kehampaan pada motor taxi tadi. Mungkin sebab balik sorang hihihi padan muka siapa suruh tunggu.

Motor taxi : "Pai nai?"
Me : "Pai nih pai nuh"
Motor taxi : "OK OK follow"

Go around lagi pusing2 pekan. Jom check it out. Malam ni masuk tak kena duit. Jalan2 kat dalam. Haaaa lama betul tak dengar bass cenggini. Tak nak dok lama kat tempat ni. Nampak banyak sangat syetan2 hahaha. Dah dah keluar ko dari sini. Jadi la layan bass 15 minit sekupang pun tak keluar. Laaa dia ada lagi...

Me : "Go hotel"
Sambil angguk2 jalan

Rasa lama juga baru sampai hotel. Sampai kat hotel...

Me : "Ngein kon"
Motor taxi : "Ning set ha men"

Keluarkan 200 baht bagi je la. "No no you keep. I am happy tonight."

Habis dah kot malam ku...

Ride Itik to Koh Samui - Samui Bike Week 2014 Part 3

Continue from part 2... not sure what to write. no idea at all. Rain outside... feel sleepy. Sorry if story for part 3 a bit boring.

Our trip from Patthalung to Tung Song very smooth except for one incident. One of our rider... Dayat having a minor problem. He told us his bike suddenly becoming heavy. Dayat is so thin and he claim his bike suddenly becoming heavy!!! pssssst don't tell me Dayat carry an invincible pillion hahaha. Perhaps she need a lift. After that nothing happen. So my instinct is right.

Tips... while entering Thung Song, please be extra careful. The road is a bit slippery especially after raining. My tire slip a bit as I am trying to catch up with uncle in front hahaha

At about 6pm we reached Thung Song. Again a PTT petrol station is our choice. One of the reason is the 7E shop. We spent about 30 mins there. Many story to tell hahaha.

First, I noticed this weird guy in a black jacket. He is sitting as he is traveling in a bus. No joke. See for yourself.. BUT he is so lucky... see the lovely lady behind him...  krik krik she can't even stay 10 feet away. Got sensor somewhere I think hihihi - jangan mare ye Adam and Shalini
Leave the weird guy. Lets focus on the big team. The friendship atmosphere is becoming warmer. Teasing and laughing...

Abg Madi take the opportunity to distribute token from JKJR. Photo below shows Poksu received JKJR reflector. May be later we have JKJR cawangan Narathiwat headed by Poksu. I do not know why Abg Madi smile that much while Poksu shows no emotion
As we will be traveling at night, the safety vest from JKJR become handy. GOOD that we have some as some of our riders do not have one. Since Abg Madi is the one who put the effort to get sponsorship from JKJR, we have him as a guest of honour today.
Looks like Abg Madi is holding his breath. Not sure what is happening there BUT what I do know for sure Alan has yet taken his bath for more than 24 hrs. hahaha

We are late already... enjoy too much time so now we have to rush to Surat Thani. Only Riz was there before. I have been there too BUT not really in city center. I went there for lunch. So basically we have to rely on Riz... but he is too busy.
Ha ha ha

After Riz finished his 'meal' we continue our butt-ache ride to Surat Thani. We continue checking the route 41 surface until we reached a dark place. Yes it is a dark place. There is nothing to see. Someone said we should go to the next exit. Why should we believe him. He has never been to Surat Thani. I think he is drunk with Singha dringking water and that is why he is so clever in direction. Clever than the GPS. So we decided that we should follow the stupid GPS instead of a clever-drunk team member. Hahaha. We continue with route 44.

I realized that this is the route I have taken before. Hey man it is too late. You should have said that while in Thung Song not in this dark place.

Along the way heading towards the city, there are many people at the road side. Arm with a stick and a torch light. None of us know what they are doing and none of us dare to stop and ask.

We stop for re-fuelling. While stopping then we started to ask "hey what was the thais doing just now?" how to answer?

Then we started to look at Alan. He is staring at his Harley-look-alike-bike. Pancat lorr.
Take a note - not all petrol station in Thailand is equipped with compressed air. BTW why Alan is hiding behind his bike? Is it because I teased him above?

After Alan taking care of his tire we continue to the city center. Our target is Hotel Grand Thana. The motor taxi guy recommend to us
What say you of this hotel lobby? 500 baht only meh.

I love to continue BUT my wife ask me to switch off light and get onto bed. It is raining outside so... tomorrow lah I continue my story

Ride Itik to Koh Samui - Samui Bike Week 2014 Part 2

Part 2... to be franked I dunno how many parts will this journey takes.. it depends how much ideas pop up... hope it it fine to you guys....

As a Malaysian.. to pass our immigration is very convinient. Throw away a smile to a beautiful immigration officer with Assalamualaikum... of course. "Selamat jalan dan jangan nakal2 kat tempat orang" the officer quote... huh am I look that naughty????
HOLY SHIT that is the word to describe the situation at Thai Immigration area. So crowded with Malaysian. It took 5 of us an hour (we break into few groups for easy manuverability - visit Thai Immigration to understand this) to have our passport to stamp and another hour for the custom clearance for our lovely kapchai.

No time to waste. We headed towards Tesco Lotus Danok. Our meeting place in Thailand. Abg Madi Yusri and Riz already there waiting for us. Ops... I did not know the other guy in the photo. I am not telling now as there is an interesting story later
Some of us get the Thai telephone number for internet purpose of course. Cheap cheap. TB99 each and TB100 top up. Ready for internet. Fast wooo
Under a hot sunny day... tips... drink as much water as you can. Easily dehydrated. My jacket is wet BUT no smell HAHAHA thanks to ADIDAS eau de toilet. Try one. Want sample? Can advise you. Free.

KONASAI the last group speeding and did not stop at the meeting point. FUCK the leader. FORGET or STUPID. We have to rushed up to catch them. Look at the photo... Abg Madi 'terhegeh2 dengan mask ridernya' while Riz still in the toilet... I presume. He ate too much so he must be flushing out some right. hehehe
About 5km we managed to 'catch' the FAST AND FURIOUS group. What look look. Funny? Then we formed a line. The Itik line. A long line of kapchai from Sadao to Hat Yai... We expect the long line will not last long. Due to many traffic light some been left behind. Regroup before the master junction. If anyone go straight then he will be left wandering Hat Yai. No one will be searching for him. It is like searching MH370. Lucky no one did.
We continue our ride via route 43 avoiding to heavy traffic route 4. Our Thai friend, Poksu Satme join us along the way near Bang Klam. We stop for a refuelling at PTT in Pa Bon. Everybody rush to the 7E for a bottle of a cold water.

I observed some cool things. Check photo. We have met not more than 2 hours. So this is nothing unusual. In fact, I have not met half of the riders. So how do I make everybody happy? Hope I can do something to show how to be happy and enjoyable for another 400km
After 20 mins, we headed towards Patthalung. A town in between and having lunch there. Everybody is hungry. We stopped at three restaurant that suit everybody taste. Nan and Poksu do all the negotiation and we had a good deal
Perut kenyang... hati senang. Those words are best describe to us. We started our journey to next town, the Tung Song

Ride Itik to Koh Samui - Samui Bike Week 2014 Part 1

The Ride Itik legacy continues... this time we are heading towards Koh Samui Thailand. The activity - just ride, enjoy and visit Samui Bike Week 2014. That is all about this ride. It is a 500 km one way. Never had this far before. Map below shows everything... the route and the distance. Well you may search our event page here (the FB link)
5am 1-May-2014 - Makbul 24 hour Restaurant, Lagenda Height - our RV. Not many were there. Just a few from the participant while the remaining were the escortee. At this point, we are not sure how many are following us to Samui nor how many will be escorting. What we do know is
  1. 8 riders from sentral  most probably resting in RnR Gurun waiting for us. They have endured 400km at night.
  2. 2 from Ipoh
  3. 1 from Gunung Semanggol

0515 HRS group moves to RnR Gurun with a message "Siapa lambat kejar"

0530 HRS arrived at RnR Gurun. Not knowing how many will be there. We found some, lying on the pavement.... too tired perhaps. Those are from sentral. Understand that they arrived 10 mins earlier. Wow.... so hardcore. Well not every plan goes as plan. The sentral riders were 3 hours behind schedule as they have waited for fellow riders.

Where is Pak Ndak!!! he should have been here in RnR Gurun. WTF.... Hahaha. No photo here as we are rushing to Changlun. The rides continue.

0615 HRS. STOP STOP STOP. We stopped for a Solat Subuh at the Tol Hutan Kampung. Prays to ALLAH to bless our journey, our ride with no problem until we return. The imam for the day is the one and only SIR in the group. Sir Syahir Syarafuddin. Haaaa over here there were plenty of photos. We displayed some here while the rest you have to view here
We have also distribute our Tee here to those who placed order earlier. Wanna see it? Mmmmm laterlah I show you.

Still don't ask me how many of us... the answer is still 'I don't know'. Treet treet wassup message. Some more waiting along the way up to Changlun. Our next stop is the Petronas Changlun
While the sun rise.... we go thru the cold wind of May... no birds to watch perhaps they run away due to our noisy exhaust

We arrived at the Petronas Changlun at about 7.15. This is our last top up of Malaysian cheap petrol. We love our country and we will support our national petrol. Perhaps I should ask the taukey of the petrol pump to sponsor us next trip. Hahaha. Give and take right.

Everybody is filling up. Mak ai... there were more than 40 of us. Damn it. Half of them I don't even know and I am riding with them.
A fast stop. 15 mins max. We will go for a breakfast. One of us suggest Marry Brown Changlun. Well why not. Lets go...

Arrrrgh it is not Marry Brown. Instead a mamak shop next to Marry Brown Restaurant HAHAHA. See our Pak Ndak selfie
After filling up our empty stomach now we can count. Not many lah. There were 46 of us. 23 leaving to Koh Samui, 1 in the middle while 22 escort.
We are already behind schedule so better enjoy our time. There must be plenty of visitors there in Danok. So no point rushing. Eat eat eat our last roti canai and teh tarik.

I will continue the write up later... in a new blog page. Enough for this one

Solo Ride Itik Ke Phuket Bike Week 2014 : Day 2, Jumaat, 11-April-2014

Jadi Lone Rangerlah aku all the way to Phattalung.

Alleymak….sesak pulak stesen minyak, tak jadilah nak tambah minyak.

Sempat jugak bersembang sementara menunggu lampu trafik bertukar hijau.
JNP XXXX….Thumbs up!

Sampai ke Bandar Trang aku ikut “Big Bro”, terserempak pulak dengan kedai bundle kasut. “Pehh….pi ushar-ushar pun bagus jugak”.
Hmm….macam sodap ajer...

Ahh…lega rasanya…(pukul 1.43 tengahari).

Aku lihat awan-awan hitam mulai berkumpul.
Melayan keindahan bumi Allah…bestnyer…

Bersambung catatan seterusnya, Krabi – Phuket…
